Name: Michi
Other characters: None.
In Character:
Name: Yamauchi Tetsuma.
Aliases: Senior discipline of the Hikinami-ryu
Race: Human.
Age: Twenty-three.
Gender: Male.
Occupation/Class: Samurai.
Orientation: Heterosexual.
Physical Description:
Though the sort of man to fight against such things, Tetsuma is unable to attain the appearance to match his "Bushi" status. His hair, for instance, is wild and disheveled, and through all his attempts of washing and combing--done fervently on a daily basis, his hair still fans out in wild strands when put up in a pony-tail; the ends are rigid and sharp. When alone he is prone to let his black hair fall to his shoulders.
In terms of facial structure, he has, though unbeknownst to him, a set of attractive features. In proportion to others, said features are of regular sizes. Tetsuma's nose is sharp and thin, possessing also thin nostrils. His bottom lip is fuller than his top, which gives him a look of melancholia or poutyness. Eyes of a dark brown, setting evenly apart; one existing no bigger than the other. Above his eyes, his eyebrows flair thickly, sharing a semblance with his mane. Though, strangely, he can only grow but a wisp of a beard.
His neck is fuller than most, possessing thick tendons and muscles. Possessing a torso marred from years in the dojo; Tetsuma has sculpted himself for the sword, compacted with lean muscle, his body is a heavily used tool. Much of this is hidden by his clothing, which can prove misleading to opponents.
His height is at five-feet and eight inches, while his weight rings in around one-hundred and sixty-seven pounds.
When not wearing the blue kimono of the Hikinami, with its white waves embroidered on the shoulders, Tetsuma can be found in darker colors or kimono's of cheaper value. Underneath his kimino's, he wears the traditional fundoshi or loincloth. His sandals are worn with tabi; a japanese sock. Tetsuma's obis are most often a "light-blue", and have his Katana and wakizashi tucked in its folds.
Personality Description:
A stoic nature that is bore to many Samurai, Tetsuma has come to a point of distance(or distancing himself) in social relationships. Born the son to a samurai; his father wouldn't of known how to spoil a child if he had instructions. Bore from his childhood loneliness, is his focus on the sword, which borders on the obsessive; grown heavily enthralled with the life of a martial artist. His allegiance isn't tacked to a lord of any caliber, rather the proprietor of his dojo, "The old master", as he is so named.
Of his philosophy, there is little he will omit. The old master has replaced his father, and holds a great amount of power over his decisions. While he may value honor and courage, the old master is not below sending his disciplines on "twisted" jobs. Tetsuma is often tested by his masters sanity, but never backs down from his wishes. Internally there is a struggle between honor and morality. Being young and still semi-impresionable, Tetsuma has still many physical and mental barriers to overcome in his quest for the perfection of the sword.

History:
Born to Jouhen and Osuko Yamauchi; his childhood as he can remembers it, was a string of violent acts between his mother and father. These acts eventually led to their separation. His mother traveled off to remarry, and Tetsuma was dragged along with his father. In Jouhen's aspirations as a rounen, he led himself and his son through many of the provinces of Japan, and throughout them experienced some of the worst of poverty.
Though as hard times are bound to pass with persistance, Jouhen found a Daimyou to serve, and under him, Jouhen was permitted to teach kendo.
In his youth--at the castle of Houjou, Tetsuma began his formal education. When not studying, though the times were few, he would pass his restlessness with books and taking in the views of the landscapes; prone to taking long walks, and losing himself in the land. He grew with an intense passion for the arts, and never would have picked up a sword if not for Sun Tzu's, "The art of war." Tetsuma was often picked on for his bookish nature, elder samurai's would often joke: "He came out of his mother's womb reading." The time at the Daiymou's castle was a prosperous one for the father and son. Tetsuma was able to make friends with one of son's of Houjou, and studied with him to some extent.
They had fallen into an enjoyable life, and when Jouhen was caught having an affair with the Daiymou's wife, this was ruined. Jouhen was ordered to commit sepukku; he requested before committing the ritual, that his son be sent to the Hikinami Dojo. At this dojo he was trained by, "the old master", who was the kendo instructor for Jouhen. Along the side of the master's grandson, he polished his skills and grew into a man.
Strengths/Weaknesses:
Strengths:
Well Read- Through his entire life, Tetsuma has been enthralled with books and has gained from them, many lifetimes of knowledge.
Common Sense- Tetsuma's vision of things and people are rarely hindered by foolish ideals, and this allows him to view things as they are intended.
Peak Physical- In the spectrum of human fitness, Tetsuma has hit a plateau that is only gained by devoting one's mind and body to martial arts.
Non-addict- Though there are many addictions in the world, Tetsuma has up till now, avoided them. His taste for sake, opium, tobacco, and even women(if one must know) has been low.
Weaknesses:
Athiest- While others have been empowered by the gods(most warriors will pray to hachiman), Tetsuma walks an intellectual path. This can be a fault, as in a time that most are very religious, he can be alienated for his beliefs.
Alienation & Isolation- In terms of his weaknesses this would be his greatest. Tetsuma is not one to mingle socially(outside of his current circles), and doesn't look openly on new people and relationships. His time is most often spent with the Hikinami disciplines and in study, that he has neglected the health of his social life.
Weapons/Armor: Daishou pair.
Magic: None.
Other: None.
RP Sample: (excerpt from his past)
There was in that time, a great hollowing of the people. Snow clung to everything, and when you would open the windows to let the snow off, it would fall inside. The attrition had grown heavy and Jouhen and Tetsuma had taken to robbing travelers. The ronin and son did it with the subtlety of a fool, but managed alright.
Tetsuma had been only ten the first time he crossed blades with a Samurai. They were hiding in the woods--the father and son--and were waiting for the next traveler to show their neck. This was a time, when, Tetsuma's interest in martial arts was at a low, and he shirked the idea of throwing himself into combat. Though he knew hunger and knew the feeling was worse than fear. His father had given him, his wakizashi, and with it, Tetsuma hid behind a tall twisted tree.
They waited in the snow, and they waited until their feet hurt. They passed up numerous chances at a meal, but all were feats out of their range of comprehension, a boy and a ronin had little chance of say: Taking on a group of five or six Samurai. So, they waited, and when the time was right, they leaped out.
Jouhen had the ferocity of a wild cat, and with his sword, engaged the Samurai, who was escorting a young women. The two entangled in combat, and when Jouhen was loosing to the man, called for his son to intervene. It was then that Tetsuma inserted his wakizashi into the Samurai's back. The samurai letting out a scream, Tetsuma watched as the light faded from his brown eyes.
They rested for a time, seeing the women flee from them, they eventually got up and pursued her. The young women was a-horse, but could not navigate the forrest well, and they tracked her down quickly enough. From her they took money and the horse, and after they went back to pick the samurai's body clean, they ventured on.
Eventually the affliction of the times would put them even more destitute, to where they had to eat the horse.
